Meet the sock that doesn’t quit before you do. The Survival Over-The-Calf Alpaca Sock is designed for long days, harsh weather, and serious mileage on foot.
Heavy-weight, fully cushioned, and climbing several inches higher than a standard boot sock, it delivers maximum coverage and warmth from toe to just below the knee.
Alpaca’s natural insulating power keeps feet comfortably warm without getting clammy, while the dense terry loop interior traps heat and channels moisture away from the skin. Whether you are breaking trail in deep snow, glassing on a windy ridge, or working outdoors from dawn to dark, this is the sock to reach for when conditions are at their toughest.
Over-the-calf height – rises about 4" above a standard crew and 2" above boot height for extra coverage and warmth. (Size Large used, other sizes scaled proportionally)
Heavy-weight, full terry loop cushion from cuff to toe for maximum insulation and shock absorption.
Triple-length stay-up welt – holds the sock in place on the leg all day long, even in high-activity use.
Reinforced heathered royal blue heel, sole, and toe for added durability and abrasion resistance.
Elastic arch support band for a secure, performance fit that helps reduce foot fatigue.
Naturally insulating alpaca fiber – warm without bulk, comfortable across a wide range of temperatures.
Moisture-wicking and breathable – helps keep feet dry and comfortable in heavy boots and extreme conditions.
Soft, cozy, and hypoallergenic compared to many wool blends.
Made in the USA with U.S.-grown alpaca.

Putting Our Fiber to Work
Island Alpaca contributes half of our annual harvest to a local fiber cooperative that supports not only our farm but other alpaca farms as well. This cooperative is a processor that prides itself on producing high quality alpaca products and maximizing the value of our raw alpaca fiber, so that we can offer environmentally and socially conscious alpaca goods to the market.
At Island Alpaca, we provide regular fiber supplements and ground flax daily to our alpaca, helping promote overall good health and a superior quality fleece. Our fleece is so fine that last year a large portion of our seconds, which are neck fibers, were re sorted into the prime blanket category. Our textile lab results indicate that our alpaca produce some of the finest fiber in the country.
At our annual shearing, we skirt and hand sort each fleece to create a range of products that use all grades of fiber. At the cooperative, the fiber is sorted by color and grade, then hand baled, scoured, spun, and finally either machine knit or woven into beautiful, high quality alpaca products. Once the finished products arrive at our Martha’s Vineyard farm, they are given the Island Alpaca label and made available for purchase.
We hope you enjoy these products created in partnership with our local fiber cooperative.
